The Mama Village Sessions

An in-home breastfeeding support group for Hendricks County mamas (Boone County too)

You know that feeling of sitting around a kitchen table with a few mama friends who just get it? That's this.

The Mama Village Sessions are small, in-home breastfeeding support groups for mamas across Hendricks and Boone County — Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield, Danville, Pittsboro, Zionsville, Whitestown, and the Westside of Indianapolis. Two to four families gather in a host mama's living room for an hour of real conversation about feeding your baby. No clinical checklist. No rushing. Just support, mama to mama.

Meet Bethany

I'm Bethany — a licensed Speech Language Pathologist, Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, and TOTs certified provider. I'll be there guiding the conversation, answering your questions, and weaving in my oral function specialty wherever it's needed. You're doing a great job, mama. Sometimes you just need a room full of people who believe that too.

What We Talk About

Every session flexes to fit the mamas in the room, but common topics include:

  • Latch and positioning
  • Milk supply — building it, protecting it, trusting it
  • Pumping and building a stash
  • Bottle feeding without sabotaging breastfeeding
  • Signs of tongue or lip tie, and when to get a second opinion

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't have any mama friends to bring?

Right now, this format is brand new, so we're not matching mamas together yet — we don't have a way to know who else is interested in your area. If you don't have a friend or two to bring, a Mama Village session isn't the right fit just yet. Instead, you can book a private in-home evaluation for $250, just you, your baby, and Bethany.

Do I need to host a session to join one?

Yes — whoever fills out the form hosts the session in her own home. You'll invite 2–3 mama friends to join you. It takes at least two families for a session to run, so gathering your friends is what makes it happen — and the more mamas you bring, the more it feels like a village (and the more worth it the hour becomes).

Is this the same as a private lactation consultation?

No — this is peer-style group support, not a one-on-one clinical visit. If you're dealing with a specific concern like a suspected tongue-tie, painful latch, or slow weight gain, a private consult is a better fit. Mama Village Sessions are for the everyday feeding questions that come up in the first year, in a relaxed group setting.

What ages of babies is this for?

Newborns through 9 months old. This isn't a fit for toddlers — sessions are built around the earliest stages of feeding.

Do you cover tongue-tie and oral function in these sessions?

Yes, when it's relevant to the group. As a Speech Language Pathologist with an oral function specialty, Bethany naturally weaves in guidance on latch mechanics, tongue and lip tie signs, and oral motor concerns as they come up in conversation.
